It has been almost one week since my gofundme is live and I would like to thank those of you who have participated. This shows that an interdependent future is possible.
In talking with some of you, it seems that my subject, and need for money is not clear. So I will try to clarify both:
Some have asked “Why do you need money? Dont you get paid to do a PHD?” Well yes, but my chosen path is to do research in a real world setting, meaning while I am applying my learning and working at 7Peaks Brasserie. This means I will be pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA). This is a terminal degree, just like a PhD, but is applied. I will be conducting research with the intent of putting it into action, not only publishing. These types of programs are part time and require investment by the student.
Coming on to my subject, “B Behaviours: Qualitative research identifying key BCorp behaviours necessary for a sustainable future.” My topic is focused on the behaviours behind sustainable business. Many companies identify new strategies and initiatives, only to see that they do not take hold as expected a few months down the road. This is because the behavioural modifications are probably not being considered. Certified B Corporations are THE example to follow for sustainable ways of working and I intend to distill these behaviours that set them apart and share these results with the world. What are they? I don’t know… yet!
